Today I hit up a Walmart location (one that I usually go to but always come out empty handed) because I was passing thru the area and had time to kill. I was pretty happy to have found one of these, after weeks of seeing the same F case scraps:

Couldn't find the Tahitian Green EF Civic from the same case, but I'm pretty sure these int'l shortcard mixes aren't the same as regular stuff. Almost every time there's some desirable/recognizable cars missing when it's clear the whole case has been pegged very recently (maybe I'm just giving the store the benefit of the doubt when it comes to employee hookups...)

A couple hours later on my way to dinner, I run into a blue 620 I've seen on the streets on several occasions and even on Craigslist. Clearly I didn't squander the photo opp.

After spending 2 days working on the wagon, most of the primer I applied last time was gone and it was ridiculously hard to see how the surface was like. So I sprayed another coat and I was surprised to see it isn't too far off from being in the final stages:

Some rough edges to clean up and some spots to fill with putty, and then it should be on its way to being finished...

Hey everyone!

My mind was and is still shattered at how my toy Starion managed to find its way onto the Japanese Nostalgic Car website. As corny as it sounds, being featured or even mentioned on the JNC blog has been one of those bucket-list type of things for me personally, so a big thank you to the post author Justin Principe for sharing my work, Japanese Nostalgic Car for the always amazing content, and of course all the people showing love.

So welcome to the Blistercards blog! For the new readers, things are a bit quiet but these are the two current projects waiting for me to complete. Being a full time student with work on the side really robs time from this hobby, however in about 2 weeks or so I'll be on a break with some more freedom to restart on these again.

On the left is a Johnny Lightning-made 240SX that's getting the full Type-X treatment, and on the right is a Civic wagon/Wagovan that used to be a common 2-door EF hatch by Hot Wheels which got released a few months ago.

Results: Hot Wheels Honda Civic (EF)

Took me long enough to customize one of these. For this one I decided to just do a simple detail to start. Hot Wheels did a pretty good job at giving it a realistic, tasteful paint scheme, but I still thought it could use some rubstrips, window trim, and new wheels.

Also did some panel lining on the middle columns of the lower grille to resemble a painted JDM bumper:

Added a C-pillar brace at the rear, as well as some factory style tinted taillights. I mixed a very pale clear pink for the reverse lights to recreate the slight tinge on the real life article.

Finally, a closer-up shot. Note the rear wiper delete plug and trunk lock.

This actually isn't the first EF I've modified. In the works is a Civic Wagon of the same generation (taking up time for the S13) that just needs to be done first. Pushing it to be finished by next week...but we'll see how that goes!

Results: Hot Wheels 1981 Delorean DMC-12

I had the front lip finished a few weeks ago but put it aside due to a busy schedule, but I picked it up again and finished everything in 2 days, hahaha. Part of why it took so little time was because I only had to polish the body and clear it, as opposed to an extra step of primer and paint.

The kit itself is inspired by the real-life optional ground effects, but the spoiler is completely original.

A 6-month long build (working on and off) finally comes to an end, and I'm very happy to be able to share the results...

Gotta have the Japanese Nostalgic Car inkan on there, in no other colorway more 80's than black and gold.

Can't have a turbocharger and not tell anyone about it.

Now if only there was an actual Hot Wheels Mitsubishi Starion; I would def hoard those and do tons of repaints. Until they do release it, or when 3D printing or milling becomes mainstream consumer appliances, its all up to my ghetto styrene, files and putty. Not that I want to build another one of these though.
